About Me
My name is Gabriel Heng Kim Hwee and I am an undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University studying Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Design. I am an inquisitive student skilled in various CAD modelling software such as NX Siemens, SolidWorks, Inventor, and Fusion360. Through my past internship, I have experience in 3D printing and laser cutting methods for prototyping and product creation as well. I am looking to obtain a holistic internship in the consumer products industry.
I am intrigued by not only the qualities of a product but the developmental process involved in making it. Realizing concepts into functional products excites me and I hope I can incorporate my strengths into a company's mission.
Projects
Multi-functional Skate Bag
For a Product Design module that I took in university, I was tasked to design a new product that would resolve a problem I observe from everyday life. I came up with a multi-functional skate bag that is more compact and versatile compared to existing inline skate bags in the market. A high fidelity and functional prototype was created in the process.
Doormart Food Packaging Redesign
Tasked to design new sustainable food packaging for Doormart, a subscription based food cater for migrant workers in Singapore. Through collective idea generation with my team, we came up with this 3-tiered concept and I concretized the concept using Autodesk Fusion 360. Rendering was done on Autodesk Fusion 360 as well.
Model Making with Different Materials
For an NTU academic module Product Presentation (MA2014), I learnt basic drawing systems such as perspective, contour and shading, and marker rendering. I made models using various types of materials from the perspective of industrial design and got to operate various machines such as band saw machine, belt sanding machine and hot wire foam cutting machine.
